Level 5 access

1. There are hidden stairs form level 6 to level 5. Is there any way to open a gate on level 5 near those stairs guarded by two fire monsters? (gate blocks access to the rest of level 5).
2. After reaching level 5 gate closes and you are trapped but after some time I noticed it's open again. What is a trigger?

well, as fair as I can tell, this part is made up of three seperate bits, two of which are accessable from pits level 4 and the last bits with the plate in it that is accessable from the level 6 with the fire mobs in it - the two parts are seperated by a gate
I've not found a way to open the gate but there really isn't much point - i'd already cleared the other areas while on level 4. Assuming you've fallen into every pit you've come across then chances are you have as well
