Can someone please tell me the use for this spell? I can't find one.

I assumed...that since you found it in a maze where you couldn't go into the light lest you get teleported that it was used to cheat on the maze puzzle.

For casting magic missile into.

As osa said, there is a puzzle where its helpful (but also not necessary). Some people have said if you use it you can see walls that might move with a switch (a glow behind the wall).

I haven't tested it yet, but I think you sneak better in the dark.
