Personally I WILL not use steam as I do not trust them.
If they only release on steam then they wil lose a lot of fans.
Since Bethesda released the construction kit for Skyrim on Steam only - I have not bought Skyrim, since I could not access the construction kit.
The dungeon editor will be a free update to everybody regardless where you bought the game from. As a mod author you're free to choose where to upload your mod, be it Steam Workshop or some other modding site, as long as it is free for others to download your mod. Naturally using Steam Workshop requires a Steam key and there is nothing we can do to change that. However, if I would be a mod creator I would upload my mod to many places so that the audience for my work would be as large as possible. So I'm pretty sure popular mods will be available through many channels, including Workshop and many other popular modding sites. I think with these options we have all bases covered and everybody should be happy. Hope this clears things up!

There will be a Grimrock Nexus. It will be supported in the Nexus Mod Manager as close to launch as possible. So if you don't like Steam, or you don't have a Steam version, you'll still have easy one-click install access to Grimrock mods and maps, provided the author uses the site :)

It also means there are going to be some very weird Grimrock mods.

Truly you have have gazed into the maw of madness that lurks in the shadowy corners of the TES Nexus. You poor, naive fool.

Skimpy armor doesn't work very well in Grimrock I'd say. :) But I'm glad there will be a Grimrock Nexus site.

Is there any information about an exporter? What program is it for?

Working on a mine tileset btw, but still need the editor to see what it really looks like and what I need to change/adjust to make it work.

It's always nice to see your work Phitt. I've always found it to be quite impressing.
