The editor crashes 1-3 times at launch almost any time that I start using it; it runs without crash ~eventually.

Not for that issue, but I should be able to in a few days... Recently (as of last week) I have [Nvidia geforce 280] video card issues that prevent me from running anything that uses the GPU.

But this issue with the editor crashing, has been since day 1. Basically I run the game, choose the editor option at the menu, and the editor usually crashes (with a dialog popup), and does this a few more times until it does not. :? It's always been like that, but never a serious impediment.

I would have thought it far more commonplace, and experienced by others, but if it hasn't been, then it's probably my system. If I can reproduce the error after the upgrades, then I will pass it along. (I expect to be able to, but I don't really know yet.)

1 - Ok the mine set 3 is the last upgrade atm.
2 - I am not sure what you mean about the alcove barrel question though? Need some more info on this mate :)

I don't want to make sx_barrel_chest and barrel_crate_block overlap but merge both. In this specific case put the sx_barrel chest in the same position of 1 barrel.

I've already done this, It's included in the Winter stuff that will see the light of day in the next couple of evenings.

I have bookmarked the Winter Tilesets nexus page already from yeserday! :D
Is watching this video that I've discovered the barrels merged that I need and I've thinked it was released apart.
Can't wait!
