While I feel that death could be a bit more harsh, it also cannot be too frustrating or time consuming - picking up bones, dragging them back to a gem and then going back to find your gear would take ages. In this case players will simply abuse the Quicksave / Quickload mechanic and never worry about death. As it is now, I rarely quick load (unless the whole party die obviously) and try to play within the rules - which is kinda cool :).

What could possibly work is that the party get the "Burdened" condition if one or more party members are dead and have to move around slowly (to represent the fact they have to drag a body around).

Now that's a silly batch of adventurers. Unless there armor was extremely heavy, even then the rest would not be worth taking off.

You got good points there. Not every item should drop. Wearables should remain on the body. Maybe even make the inventory show up as some sort of bag that slows the remaining group down. The player could choose to move slower and make the whole trip to the resurrection stone with every item, or leave the bag and flight or flee at full speed without debuffs. (but the damn torch that is on the dead characters hand should go out.. ;) )

The death type could maybe be an additional option? There are "hardcore" modes in other games too. I for one would welcome the challenge :). LoG1 was most entertaining up until two of my characters died due to my own clumsiness and I figured that there was absolutely no punishment for characters dying.. I still enjoyed the rest of the game, but some of the athmosphere was lost for some reason..

Then again.. development of LoG2 is already gone quite far.. I am propably suggesting this way too late to have any impact. :)
