Or you could certainly try ripping LoG assets to use in a Skyrim mod, Or anything else not expressly allowed in the end user license agreement. I'm sure it would turn out fine. I'm sure this will turn out great for all involved.

Not sure that's possible since at least 90% of the Grimrock Assets already exist in the entire Elder Scrolls universe. Piracy is definitely bad, but doing "only your own work" would remove Mod'ing capabilities. Best to have an ethical balance.

Well if everyone literally "does their own work" then no one would be using the Grimrock Editor nor its Assets. Probably not the best advice on a forum dedicated to Mod'ing the work of others
Are you really that idiotic? (Or is this just a kind of fun for you? Rhetorical; we all know the answer to that.)

The Grimrock editor is released by the developer for their customers to use; it comes with [careful] permissions. Anything be it art or design that is released with permission is released with the a given intent... But what's become rather a mental sickness ~an epidemic, is the ingrained notion that anything and everything in sight is there to be taken and used regardless of the [usually quite specific] agreements by which it was made available.

To get assets from a game, one must first make the agreement that one will follow the licensing arrangement set down by the agent or owner of those assets. Buying a game does not grant permission to strip it for parts. Most EULAS that I've read [and I read them all], strictly forbid this as condition of access. Bethesda releases mod tools ~and still they forbid the porting of assets between even their own games; one should assume that they have a reason important enough for them to stipulate this; and one agrees to this when they accept the deal ~or one doesn't have permission to the game.

Bottom line: If you [anyone] wouldn't send the rightful owners a link to your mod, that's a really good sign that you shouldn't be using their stuff.

I just want to post a last note:

msyblade's post here:
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=9638&start=40#p93069
is the correct analysis of the thread. Phitt was HELPING, and odinsballs mistakenly took offense (easy to do when your own time and effort feels like it's under attack), and Azel mistakenly took odinsballs side.

Phitt has done more for the community than most, he is highly valued. :ugeek:
Azel has done some good work lately, keep it up, and keep trying to improve your forum composure, you've come a long way.
Odinsballs has some good talent and is valuable as well if you'll take helpful warnings as they are intended, as a heads up from friends, not as attacks. ;)
msyblade, you saw what was going on accurately, except for one thing - you came down way too hard on Azel - he's mistaken often but has improved a lot on the forums and is trying to be a good part of the community overall, so try to be more patient and helpful if possible, or ignore if needed. 8-)
And JKos, you do amazing work! Relax buddy! :D

Peace out
