Character Generation 101
Re: Character Generation 101
Yea I know I'm kinda miffed about that too. Staff defense? That's so not ever going to come up. If my wizard needs to use his staff defense that's probably going to be a party wipe. It's useless to specialize in several weapons (one of the devs said you can't dual wield) so I get the impression you get to use 1 weapon training at a time.
Just look at the level 32 bonuses for ranged attacks (back on page 1); by this point you can shoot twice with a single attack and you shoot 50% faster. Lets say everything else did nothing to improve damage (but it does) and you'd have a chance to do 150% more damage than the other guy in the same amount of time.
Flip back to page one and look at what wielding an axe gives you. Now imagine if you could keep that bonus for having the axe be in the hand you can't use to attack with (btw that's how this game works one hand is action hand) while you have the bonus for maces active in the other hand. It would be completely and utterly broken if you got both of those skills to level 50; at that point you'd be dealing so much damage you wouldn't need to worry about taking damage in return.

I guess the idea with mages is by the time you've been playing for a while they will never run out of mana, (providing you rest after combats) and can chain cast? That way you would never need a missile weapon?

Text is... a font called 'Dark Ages' for the Names, and 'Lady Ice' for the info. Two of my favourites.
About 12 layers total.
Built in Photoshop. Made a 400x600 image, black bg, took the portraits from avatars available on the forum, gave them Stroke on their Blending Options.eharper256: nice one what kind of font is that? also: what kind of program have you used?

@eharper256: thank you very much for information.
BTW: Have you noticed that Accuracy, probably the only(?) skill responsible for being able to hit, is mentioning only melee combat? There is no word about range.. so maybe ranged weapons always hit? I do not know what to think about.. It's kind of mysterious.Darklord wrote:So only Rogues can use them effectively? I wonder if you would even be able to hit tougher enemies with no proficiency.

That's not exactly how it is. You can equip two weapons but you just can't attack with them with a single action. You choose which weapon to attack with by right clicking on the item icon.Hissssa wrote:It's useless to specialize in several weapons (one of the devs said you can't dual wield) so I get the impression you get to use 1 weapon training at a time.
Re: Character Generation 101
Yeah, there is no accuracy for ranged weapons. We had this at one point but it just wasn't very fun. It seemed very odd when a ranged projectile actually seems to hit a monster but still somehow "miss" it. I believe the reason is because attacking with a ranged weapon feels more like a player skill (aiming at a moving target) while melee is a test of character's skill. As a result ranged attacks tend to hit more often than melee attack and in order to compensate this their damage is generally lower.Lex wrote:BTW: Have you noticed that Accuracy, probably the only(?) skill responsible for being able to hit, is mentioning only melee combat? So does that mean you can get the bonuses for both weapons at the same time? Or do you only get to use the bonuses for the specific weapon you are attacking with?petri wrote:That's not exactly how it is. Re: Character Generation 101
That's a brave choice; and probably a good one, nothing was more annoying in, say, Morrowind, than swinging a sword or shooting an arrow and obviously 'hitting' the target's model, only for it to register as a miss and phase through.petri wrote:Yeah, there is no accuracy for ranged weapons.
