@Lightangels
The glowing chest is nothing you can interact with. But sometimes it emits - well... chests...

Concerning the invisible teleports: The party can't pass them - but maybe something else...

Concerning food: You can find a bit in der Gardens and in the Village.

@gylippos
Well, you have five levers. You want to know which one is meant to switch on. What is the most easiest way to give each of them a unique "term" to identify?

@ChrisDenham
That's strange...

There is a hint in one of the books in the Archive.

I think it was in the mainhall...

Hi Thom,
Well I guess I have to be stupid. Even with your hints, I couldn't solve the puzzle so I just had to trial and error it to get through the gates. Even with all of the answers I can't see the pattern.
I have done that, and now am halted by the counterweights - I can't see or get what is hanging below them - ? the fishing rod to reach the book perhaps.
The anvil problem has me. I have poisoned myself a few times at the ones that seemed to have a difference, but obviously not the right one. Another trial and error dig it seems.
I can't move the cart to reach the lever to open the gate in front of that either. Do the other set of counterweights in front of the double gates do anything, or are they just decoration?

Sorry to hear that. But I won't help you further. The code is too simple...

mmmmh :D :idea:

No try and error necessary - if you get it right. Hint: Don't look at the anvils...

Carts can only be pushed. As this particular one.
Probably you still havn't found the pickaxe...

You mean down in the main-drift? Where one could expect a hoist? Just decoration.

I have the pickaxe. It doesn't have any effect on the cart when swung, and the special attack only brings the comment "can't dig here". I've run through several flasks of energy trying, since you hinted that the pickaxe does the job.
Nothing seems to give access to or effect the counterweights. I can't put anything in there, or look far enough to see anything. A magicked rockfall sort of fizzles.

No, the pickaxe doesn't have any effect on the cart or on the counterweight.

But is could have an effect in getting behind the cart to be able to push it...

It took a few reloads and retries with false leads, but I got there. I've been through teh rest of teh mine and have the blue gem, but I clearly need a key other than the mine key I have left (does this have a use?) Do I need to kill the big fire monsters to get it or is it somewhere else? I was hopeful that just avoiding those monsters would be enough.
