.... And nothing stops the modder from examining the party at the start, and dynamically changing the mod's difficulty.

or disabling things like "god" mode at the start of the mod automatically to prevent using similar ******* cheats

I don't get the motivation for preventing cheating. It's a single player, offline game. There's nothing for cheating to distort, if someone cheats you won't even know about it. So what could you possibly gain from preventing it? (It's also impossible to prevent)
Grimrock 1 dungeon
Grimrock 2 resources

It's not fair to the developer for one thing. If someone spends a few months on a mod, they probably don't want a player to breeze through it with overpowered PCs. Or cheat their way past an optional puzzle, when they are not entitled to what's past it without solving it.

I think discussion was mainly about "God" mode- thats easy to prevent. I agree however If somebody want cheat, he/she will cheat anyway and you want even dont know and you do not need care about that.
... What was this discusion about by the way... ? :D

Probably the same motivation for creating a Mod in the first place. By your logic, no one should bother creating a fun, playable Mod, since in the end whether someone likes it or hates it, you won't even know about it since it's a single player, offline game.

There are lots of things that can't be entirely prevented (like dying in a car accident), that doesn't mean you shouldn't take basic measures (like wearing a seatbelt).

True, LoG is single player offline.
Nevertheless any kind of cheating distorts the game experience. It's not about "you" gaining something but the player losing something, especialy first time players. Giving a first time LoG player a buffed overpowered party and maybe even a 100% walkthru before starting out is prolly the best way to ruin the game experience.
