Grimrock characters do not need defenses to win. There is not a single place in the game where you are required to get hit, even without spells, and if you do have spells, well, invisibility makes you invincible from 90% of enemies, not to mention force field. I won't deny that defenses are useful for unspoiled players due to the number of surprise traps in the game, but calling it "impossible" is ridiculous.

Almost been there: 2 battlemages (Earth/Water/Air) and 2 wizards (Fire/Air) granted a very easy win in Hard Ironman mode.
Going with a single wizard (Fire/Air/Water) was way more entertaining ;)

An impossible party: how about 4 people that can only pick up stuff once for use, but can't swap weapons and armor later on. So, you have to carefully decide what to pickup and use as everything will be super-glued. So, the stick to escape the cage will be your first fixed weapon. But you still have 3 free hands for later choices on that champion (maybe this is even possible in a mod making everything 'cursed')
