Come on. The game is not even released yet and there are already complaints about gameplay! You just cant win, can ya?

On a more serious note:
When you find yourself in a situation where you can't tell the difference between a real spider and a digital representation of a spider - and let it control your life and what you can and cannot play - then it might be time to seek professional help. A psychologist might be able to help you refocus - "mod" so to speak - your mind. Might be more beneficial to you rather than a mod to a game.

It's not a think one can simply control. Sure, with help from specialist, this problem can be dealt with, but maybe not everyone can afford a doctor, you know?

So, a no-spider option is totally legit in my eyes (much more then say.. no automap mode)

I better stop there for my own sake. I'm not at all afraid of the spiders hurting me, (In fact, I'm actually rather fearless. Amnesia didn't bother me in the slightest, and that's supposedly the scariest thing ever.) it's just that my brain, like... rejects the sight of them. (Gonna steal a metaphor from another thread on this site that I just found.) "You could compare it to looking at someone being eaten alive. You would be disgusted, you could not make yourself look at it, your whole body would start trembling just from the thought of it because it's so horrific. That's what arachnophobia is like for me and I guess lots of other people too. It's not a fear that the spider is going to do something to me, it's that I can't bear to look at them." Not my words, but 100% true for me.
I'm much much more afraid of video game spiders than real ones. And besides, I don't think it's really reasonable to tell someone to spend thousands of dollars(no clue how much they cost) on a therapist (which I definitely do not have. Just lost my home, in fact.) in order to play a $12 game, when all they're asking for is a very simple mod. =/

I never wrote that it's easy. Very few things are easy. I can't know anything about the threadstarters financial situation...Just that it probably would be better to deal with it.

I don't think it gives much sense to talk about "legit" in this situation - its Almost Humans game. They made it. And they made it they way they felt to should be. If they make an option to mod it - fine. But there is no "legit". And if you don't agree with the way they made it - well...then you can ask for changes, but there is no "legit" here.

This is a little like developing a rash which doesn't go away and instead of trying to cure it, just putting layers and layers of baby powder on it, so you can no longer see it.

Especially considering the fact that one way to deal with spidey fears is using virtual images (which Grimrock does), I think the complaints are a little weird.

Yes, they should also take away the ogres -- I can't stand the sight of those ugly creatures! It does not help me to deal with my fears at all, getting used to the disgusting demeanor of those beasts. They're horrible and I don't like them!

Seriously though, I know someone who has acrophobia. He can still enjoy games like Assassin's creed without any problems. I don't see him going around telling the developers to "add an option to make the game a flat surface." It's silly and a waste of time, and it would only help a small fraction of the player base.

I came here to ask a question about the game, not get lectured by people who obviously know nothing about the subject. I got my answer, so just let the thread die.
