Necroing myself ;) after the "memorize last spell" request from the Grimrock 2 thread
Dr.Disaster wrote:One more thought just came to me regarding the possibility to cast a spell straight from a scroll. How about (instead of "right-click scroll -> spell get's cast") right-clicking the spell scroll opens the caster interface and automatically pre-selects all runes needed to cast that spell?
I'd actually like to see pre-selecting runes from an in-hand spell scroll implemented.

The next logical step would be to write(!) rune spells to erased notes, creating your own spell scrolls.
Let's drive this writing thought even further:
How about etching rune combos into caster weapons so right-clicking casts the etched-in spell right away?

Pro:
Combat with a mage can get as fast as with a fighter or a rogue; excluding cooldowns of course.

Cons:
Once runes are etched into caster weapons it can't be undone; those weapons will never again open the caster interface.
Mage players will need to micro-manage from there on.

And you might as well give mages a kalashnikov +3 of piercing. Magic is supposed to be different.

Ssssh! Do you want rogues to assassinate mages?
