This sounds all very democratic and reasonable - but is not alway true. Some games are designed around the idea of being able to save only in certain places. Difficulty, loot distribution, monster placement and battle flow can be all affected by this. Also, we`re only humans - if there is a save feature then most people will just use it instead of playing the game as it was intended to be played.Kthanid wrote: I know there's a contingent of anti-quicksave people out there (mostly because they feel it detracts from the difficulty of a game, as far as I can tell) and my response to them is always the same: Just because a quicksave (or the ability to save at any time) exists in a game does not mean that you are required to use it. People should feel free to play a game like that in any way they like. Want to save only at the start of each level? Okay, you can save there. Want to save only at healing stones? Same answer.
Yes. When the game is already based around the fact that you can save and load whenever you want, quicksaving becomes only a matter of practicality, and an important one at that.EtrianO wrote:Suppose if Grimrock already has a save anywhere system then it should also have a Quicksave feature.
Or, well, loading the latest autosave.nianu wrote:i'm terrified i'm going to end up like Lord Perel and then save, leaving myself trapped with no way out i'd be stuck with only one option of starting over
i usually don't use quicksaves. i prefer to normal save but that's just me. and some games only let you use one save slot. i'm hoping i can have multiple save slots so i don't have to rely on autosaves as my backup plan or i could just suck it up and use quicksavesCrashbanito wrote:Luckily most good quick-saves are separate to normal and auto-saves.
I guess quite a few people here could share a horror story like that. A terrible, sinking feeling . ...but it also depends on the damage, it`s not so bad if you only have to backtrack a level of two. One plus is that any time it happened to me I`ve always found some things I missed on the first go, which is cool.nianu wrote:i'd be stuck with only one option of starting over
