Hello Thom,
I see that I do have a map of somewhere. It has a pirate nad a skull and crossed cutlasses drawn on it. Is this the swamp map?

No - wrong one. You need the map of the Swamp. You can't mix it up with something else if you see it. Go to the centre of the Swamp.

I can't find the map. The centre of the swamp I took to be the area over the wall from the crystal where a piece of text said secret found. There was nothing there other than a spear and potion a few steps along. I dug everywhere that you could in the swamp but got only a chest with no map in it. I have had no luck lighting the fire with torches spells or the magnifying glass either.

yes. i've been in there. I've got what I had ingredients for. No map. The only notelike item was a poster for the judges in the chest. I even tried killing the snake, but alas no map.

Yeah you were right (of course). The penalties stopped me looking there. As it turns out, I had found most of what is marked in mostly random searches. I can't find whatever is at the candle, or light the fire. Presumably these relate to the force field. Placing the skulls around the circle, even adding a fourth hasn't helped. I haven't found a use for the mushroom pedestal where I found the skeleton figure. Is the star on the map just to indicate the sleep dart projectors or is there more there?

The skulls have to be placed right. Look carefully.

You can switch off the sleep dart trap. A figure is needed for that.

Yes, I've done that. I think I have covered all of the swamp except for the disabling of the force field around the teleport. The circle with the 3 skulls is the mechanism I suppose, but I can't activate it.
