Minmay caught what I was trying to say... the file itself was said to be located on usenet site, which has zero protections for the average user. Unlike getting a mod from the steam workshop or other reputable source that has safeguards in place to prevent viruses.

To address some of your comments though Azel.
Azel wrote: This could happen in any Mod as well, theoretically. So while a valid concern (sorta) I am not sure why you are applying it only to a save game file.
I'm talking about a save file specifically because I'm pointing out the suspicious nature of the file in this thread, not just a general warning about any potentially harmful files.
Azel wrote: umm, lol... arent you like the main person who makes judgement calls against how long it takes someone to solve a puzzle?
I don't recall anything that I said being a judgement on how long it takes someone to solve a puzzle, and I don't see anything in any of the quotes you posted from me that indicates any such judgement. What I do see is me stating that people are thinking the puzzle is more complex than it really is, so looking for solutions that involve more than they need to. That's not a negative thing, it shows that they are indeed thinking and trying to solve the puzzle... they are simply overlooking the solution to the puzzle because it's a simpler solution than what they are expecting from the puzzle.

I'm really not sure what you think you are seeing in those 2 quotes that you are claiming are me against myself though because in the first post I'm suggesting that people start with looking for a simple solution and work their way up to the more complex solutions instead of starting with the most complex thing they can dream up and working their way down, and in the second quote I'm saying that there's nothing wrong with posting the solutions to puzzles for the people that can't figure them out. Nowhere do I see where those two quotes have anything to do with each other.

As for the Food/Puzzle thread, I stopped talking about that because you decided to ignore anything I was trying to say and simply be insulting. So I would prefer to not dredge more of that up as it simply will not go anywhere when you choose to not even try to understand someone else. For the record though, I do understand that your characters weren't 'starving because you couldn't get enough food for them' and that your issue was that you simply didn't want to have to get out of the mental 'zone' in the middle of a puzzle that had you thoroughly stumped, and if it was something other than food that would pull you out of said 'zone' you'd probably be getting similarly annoyed at that. However, I'm not convinced you ever understood the point I was trying to make.

Seems to me that in this thread you were arguing that no one should judge how long it takes anyone to solve a puzzle, whereas in the other thread you said that if people are taking a long time to solve a puzzle it is because they are overthinking - which sounds like a judgement.

Maybe not a blatant contradiction, but I thought it was interesting. Cheers!

Well Azel, I personally don't recognize overthinking as judging someone. It's simply something that people tend to do from time to time when they are expecting something to be more complex than it is. It is nothing more than a statement of what someone is doing. For example, if I was to say 'Joe is running.' that's not a judgement, it's a statement describing what Joe is doing. So saying 'Joe is overthinking.' is no different, they are both statements of what someone is doing. I believe that you may have interjected things that weren't present into what you were reading to cause you to think that I was somehow judging people by stating what I was watching them do in youtube videos where they verbally described their thought process in trying to solve the puzzles and were consistently describing theories that were outlandishly complicated, so if they wanted to solve the puzzles faster then they'd have an easier time doing so by starting with the simplest solution possible and working up to more complicated solutions instead of trying to come up with the most complicated first and work down to simpler solutions.

That's incorrect.

The definition of overthinking is: to think about (something) too much or for too long

So in your analogy, you aren't saying, "Joe is running" ... you are saying "Joe is running too much" or "Joe is running too long" or more specifically, "Joe is over-running."

That sounds like a judgement. Maybe Joe is running just as much as he feels needed; who are you to say he's running too long? Dont judge Joe!

Thinking is not the same as overthinking. Thinking is the observation; overthinking is the judgement (ie, thinking "too much"). It's interesting that you consider saying, "someone is thinking" is the same thing as saying "someone is thinking too much" especially in a thread where you argue that no one should judge how long it takes for someone to think about something. hah

Obviously I used the incorrect word with 'overthink' as I didn't intend for it to be about length of time thinking, only how complicated they were thinking the puzzles were. So I apologize for misusing the word.

Seems like an honest mistake, often caused by too much overthinking. I would know, I'm guilty of it quite often myself :D

Back on topic though...

I really wish it was possible to import characters from any Main Campaign save game file in to a New Main Campaign file. Would probably have more impact in Grimrock 1 but still, would be kinda fun to begin Grimrock 2 with a level 15 Knight or Fighter.

If monster difficulty (health/damage) scaled with the combined Level average of the group then it wouldn't be God Mode. Plus, it would give Grimrock some extra added replay value.

I'm not looking for cheese, just new and fun ways to enjoy an already great game.

Well, importing a higher level party allows some mods to be designed with that in mind, sorta like D&D campaigns designed for lv 11-14 party, for instance.
