Yes, really. That said, for LoG to run I have to install the unofficial post-EOL patches from msfn.org, especially KB2392802 and KB2508429 (which themselves depend on earlier unofficial patches on the site).

It does run fine, however, with the patches installed :D
great! :)

I would be not surprised if LoG would run on windows 98se, too (with some help of kernel-Ex: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kernelex/ , inofficial servicepack 3.1: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/61749-98-se-sp-31/ and last directX9.0c: http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... redist.exe)

For reference, these are the steps I had to follow to install LoG 1.1.3. I have yet to try 1.1.4.

Edit...1.1.4 works fine, but it would only install after uninstalling 1.1.3.

Part I -- Updating Windows 2000 API's (had already done this)

1. Go to http://www.msfn.org ,enter the Windows 2000 forum section and install the unofficial security patches, but most especially:

Windows2000-KB2393802-v10-x86-ENU.exe
Windows2000-KB2508429-v6-x86-ENU.exe

These add a bunch of XP API's to Windows 2000 that you need.

Part II -- Installing XAudio and X3DAudio on Windows 2000 --

1. Download June 2010 DirectX redistributable
2. Manually unpack it using directx_Jun2010_redist.exe /c /t:"C:\Downloads\Microsoft DirectX"
3. In that folder, extract Jun2010_XAudio_x86.cab
4. Copy XAudio2_7.dll and XAPOFX1_5.dll to C:\WINNT\System32.
5. Open a command prompt and type Regsvr32.exe XAudio2_7.dll
6. Extract Feb2010_X3DAudio_x86.cab
7. Copy X3DAudio1_7.dll to C:\WINNT\System32.

Part III -- Install a working d3dx9_43.dll

1. From the unpacked DirectX folder (see above), unpack Jun2010_d3dx9_43_x86.cab
2. Copy d3dx9_43.dll to where LoG is installed.

Part IV -- Installing MSVC runtimes

1. Acquire msvcr100.dll and msvcp100.dll and copy them to C:\WINNT\System32.

Hi everyone

I tried to run LoG on my laptop but no success. My specs are far below the minimum requirements:

HP Pavilion DV5020
AMD Turion(tm) 64, 2.2 Ghz
1 Gb RAM
Video ATI RADEON Xpress 200 (128 Mb memory)
DirectX 9.0c
OS: Windows XP SP3 (32 bits)

When I first tried to run, I got this message:
The application or DLL D:\Legend of Grimrock\d3dx9_43.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Installation diskette is funny, sounds really like an old-school game :)
I installed it from Steam, anyways. After reading a lot of posts in the forum, I tried to rename (or delete) the d3dx9_43.dll file that is in the game folder. This seems to have worked for some people. After that, the above message didn't appeared and a black window appeared (not full screen) briefly and followed by the message:

The following error occurred while starting up the game:
Pixel shader version 3.0 or higher required

Please check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements, DirectX 9 is properly installed, and that your graphics card and sound card drivers are up to date.
Audio and Video drivers are updated, as well as DirectX 9.0c (lastest version working on Win XP). So I guess my video card doesn't supports Pixel Shader 3.0, and the game won't run :(

Fortunatelly, the game is running very well on my desktop: Intel i7 2600 3.5 GHz, 8 Gb RAM, nVidia GTX 550 Ti (2 Gb), Windows 7 64bits.
