3rd person option.
Re: 3rd person option.
Actually while i was making a joke about vsync,, Infact what i'm takling about is about as old school as a graphic dungeon crawler gets... Cause i can't personally think of a single one that happened before this game and 1982,,,
This would be a similar veiw that i was talking about, basically backed up against a wall, you would see this.. (granted the 3 others are not infront, but they can be..)
that said, being able to move the camera, has zero effect on the actuall game play, only the way you veiw it. Being able to zoom in and out, swap veiws, even a top down strategic veiw would be wonderfull. Play the game in any way you would like and open up access to many others that like different styles of gaming, while doing nothing to comprimise the actual game play.

It seems to me that most of the hallways are one tile wide, requiring looking at the wall from the same square. In any case, I'm not opposed to any game having both a first and third person option, I would just never use third.CrawlerJe wrote:not really, it would be no harder that it is now searching something one sqaure away...

Re: 3rd person option.
That makes no sense whatsoever. How can you not compromise the gameplay, if you turn it into a completely different type of game? The whole point of these games is that the view style, the movement, the combat, puzzles and tactics are the gameplay. If you change it, you get a different type of game.CrawlerJe wrote:Play the game in any way you would like and open up access to many others that like different styles of gaming, while doing nothing to comprimise the actual game play.
In addition, third person view is entirely illogical for this sort of game. Not only that, but all the work that would go into rendering the party would have turned it from a 1 year project into a 2 year project or more, and it would have cost $30.
Almost Human wanted to make an old school dungeon crawler, that used old-school mechanics, but with up to date standards of design and engineering. They have been very successful in doing that. Why is everyone so intent on now asking them to turn it into a different type of game? These requests make no sense at all and honestly seem disrespectful to their achievements.

I would definitely prefer that such effort be put into making a new dungeon rather than trying to make this a different type of game. Hopefully the option to disable head bob, and possibly an FOV adjustment, will help those that are experiencing ill effects.gambit37 wrote:In addition, third person view is entirely illogical for this sort of game. Ah, but an "epeen" is a virtual thing that anyone can possess in varying sizes.nianu wrote:i am female. i can assure you, your "epeen" is, in fact, bigger than mine

Personally, I always play 3rd person mode over 1st person if there's a choice (I even play Skyrim in 3rd person). I'm not sure how well it would work with this game though.

The way the levels are currently designed, all the ceiling tiles would have to be replace along with how noticable items are. Later in the game when the buttons are no bigger then your thumb you need that sight. Pushing the camera BACK would only hurt searching for things.Billick wrote:Personally, I always play 3rd person mode over 1st person if there's a choice (I even play Skyrim in 3rd person). Honestly, I think its straight up stupid. The game is so heavily designed to be from the first person that its not even funny. A strategic view might work, but once again, hidden walls would need something new. A thirdperson mode would require not only models for the characters, but all the armor and weapon types, along with animations for wizardry and bow shooting. There are just so many issues with making this, that in the long run, it wouldn't be worth it.
For a FPS you want a FOV slider, not a thirdperson option. Would Halo benefit from a thirdperson option today, I'm talking the original, would it benefit from it at all? Not at all because shooting would be terrible.
Play Left 4 Dead in third person to get what I mean in further detail. Overall, so many mechanics would have to be changed and so many thing added that it just wouldn't be worth it in the long run. A strategic view would be neat but, once again, lots of coding.
