by every strong monster (500 experience points and higher) i was hit so many times that i must revalidate my party. and that are man long walks to healing christals by out of food..its a long but a possible way..
maybe i have a totally wrong strategy or updates...

hey mate u actually doin pretty good.
u may feel lame but you are not.

dungeon is hard, this u know by now.
Other peeps on this thread are playin with imported parties
(lvl 8+)

I would highly recommend you restart the mod and import
your current party. Play on easy or normal and stay far away
from the hard setting.
(awesome portraits you got by the way)

a few pointers that may make it easier
1. Hall fight/hockey fight - this is when u are in a
confined space (ie narrow hall etc). Not much strategy here
as u simply pound each other till one is dead or down.
Rarely this is a good thing to do. Sometimes you have no choice.

(in hockey both parties are penalized for fighting,
in grimrock the victor is rewarded - which game is better?)

2. square dancing - monsters can not attack diagonally
so lure them to a place where u got the tile room(4 tiles) to dance around them
and hopefully avoid getting hit while u kill them.

3. just because its there does not mean u have to kill it.
monsters can be lured and trapped in many regions if u want
to avoid them or u dont want to spend resources killin them.

4. the spell forcefield is a must in this dungeon, as is invisibility.
However, with a fresh party these spells you will not get
until around lvl 10 (most likely). So again if u are
having too much difficulty in this dungeon just import a high level party.
There is no shame in doing this lol.
The Crack of Doom was designed to handle(challenge) a high level party.
A fresh party is generally for a second play through.

I can play through on hard with a fresh party and finish with stacks of healing as
could my original playtesters (and this was done without a functional
mithril forge). But it was built to be hard, with lots
of replayability/scalabilty in mind to keep our attention during
the 5/6 months of making it. None of us could do this originally,
(on hard setting)it took practice.

you are using a fresh party on your first run and you made
it almost half way.(the back half of the mod is the hardest)
So, you are a dude and a half.


If after importing a high level party you still find yourself
starving etc just PM me and i will provide you with a custom export
that contains more food. I am working on a cleaner version of the mod
atm (almost done ver 1.01) that will need to be tested. Nothing
much will change in version 1.01, in terms of difficulty. This update
will fix the dark elf race and hopefully solve the mem issue for windows
users. So the custom export option is really NP as it would also help me.

beating balrog the game crashes often.. but i have him now by many restarts..
and.. i want a brick donalds! i am very hungry...

what kinda error messages do/did you get during balrog fight?
or just a crash to desktop?

shouldnt happen, balrog fight is solid on my end so this is probably another indication that this dat build is over the mem cap
so to speak.

if u cannot continue -private message me or post here
and if you are interested in finishing it but are unable to with that dat file
i can send you a custom export that starts at the mithril forge level.

I would like to try the mod but download is no longer available at 1fichier. Would a new upload be possible ?
