the rune sequence is here: it's incomplete - there is no last rune, you have to figure out which one :)

regarding the teleportation:

"take" any rune and left-click with it upon any shrine - you will be teleported to the shrine corresponding to your rune

I just started to play The Sunset Gate and I feel like an idiot - I'm stuck at the start with the skeleton laying on the floor outside the guard chambers on level 2.
How the heck do I retrieve the key from his belt?
I've scanned all posts here and nobody have mentioned this, so it seems I'm the only one who can't figure it out :(

Until a specific event was triggered by you it is not possible to interact with the skeletons on the floor. Don't worry, you will notice that something happend so just keep exploring.

Walking up to the machine's control panel while it was on, I received the following error:

I had lots of raw orichalcum in the chamber; couldn't check how much exactly because I couldn't turn the machine off. Hadn't yet figured out how to invert it or enrich orichalcum. Had successfully traveled to the ice plane.
As far as I can tell this resulted in a completely unrecoverable state, as nothing I did would let me look at the control panel; I had to load an older save.
Also, a plea for help, which normally I wouldn't do, but this puzzle on level 4 is driving me insane:

I can't solve the rune combination puzzle near the closed gate to Barikule's tomb. I got the sequence from the dream no problem, and it appeared in my journal. Earth, life, balance, death, ice, physicality, fire, spirituality, air. I'm confident of which symbol corresponds to which word, as it both makes sense in-game and corresponds to podbelski's image (yes I know the image doesn't include air but it's obvious which one is air). But pressing the buttons in that order appears to do nothing - I've tried that around ten times. I tried entering Ice, Fire, Balance, Death, corresponding to the "5 7 3 4" note - those being the 5th, 7th, 3rd, and 4th symbols in the dream sequence, respectively. Nothing. For some reason I even tried entering the original combination in reverse order.
Using the throwing trick I've noticed there seems to be a secret door in the corridor to the east of the gate, but I haven't found any way to open it either (and I've checked it after each button combination). In the same manner I've found doors near the life crystal, level 3's "drain" area, and level 3's debris-blocked stairs, none of which I can figure out, so it's likely I've missed something else important?
edit: finished without it, guess it wasn't necessary, although I hear the "invisible truth" puzzle could have been a lot less frustrating...

hmm... really strange, I replayed the mod like 3 times, and runes sequence opened the baricule tomb w/o problems...

regarding the gates nearby thr drain (I guess you are talking about the first mines level):

you have to open the 'dump' pit and jump there, will face a few slime monsters. When you go back from that area you come out of the gate you describe.

I think this is a clue for a different puzzle, 1st mine level, the room with 3 buttons and a lever, opens a secret

Well, I still can't figure it out. I've checked every wall, pulled every toilet-chain, and found the secret passage behind one cell, but nothing more happens :(

Right now you are on level 2 - Prison Cells. The event i mentioned takes place elsewhere.
Ah, one more thing, just to make sure you do not fall pray to a LoG bug: do NOT place map markers on squares where a skeleton is .. or anything else you can interact with. Otherwise the entitiesAt bug prevents things from happening.

Ooh, that reminded me to remove the map marker I had in the rune room. Works now.

You say the event takes place elsewhere, but there is nowhere else to go! The game starts on level 2 and the only exit is blocked by a landslide. I don't have any keys for the two keyholes outside the guard room either.
Could you please tell me exactly what to do?
This is the first time I'm stuck on the starting level of a dungeon, and it's extremely frustrating (and humiliating) :(
