Interesting. I've never seen it happen myself. Does it occur only when previewing in the editor or have you had it happen while in game too?

for now, it think it only happens in the editor, I don't export my dungeon often... I'll test this, in depth, tonight.

I've had this happen too. I might be able to reproduce it too...
From what I remember it happened on an almost entirely empty level which was (directly?) underneath some spider-on-pressure-plates-spawning-fireballs shenanigans.
Edit: Well the dungeon it occurred on crashes grimrock.exe when I try to so much as preview it now. I tried briefly by binary elimination to figure out THAT problem and can't find it.
While I'm going on about glitches I'll point out that I've seen the cursor in text boxes go out of sync with the editing position. It happens if you have a scroll or something with a lot of text, and you "arrow-key" or "end key" all the way to the right, then back left and start typing.

I can't reproduce this. I have a scroll with text going to the right a ways. I hit end, then home, cursor seems fine. Maybe my text isn't long enough... just tested with a quite long one, no ill effects yet

The scroll text bug is probably caused by some invalid/unsupported characters in the string. Maybe it could be reproduced by copy-pasting some text into the textbox from external text editor?

Wow, you're right, it doesn't normally happen! So a few tests later I've found it seems to only happen on multi-line text copy/pasted in from external text editors. Perhaps it's a symptom of the editor replacing new lines with \n's?

Probably so. I just tested that it happens for me copy/pasting from both Notepad++ and Microsoft Word. I thought maybe it's from the "newline" being defined by /r/n, /r, or /n by different standards. Or generally unsupported characters as you said.

Thank you for the reports! We nailed the fire/poison on-screen effect bug. It has probably been there since day one, so it's present in the original Grimrock dungeon too
Next that scroll text thingy...

Oh, if that scroll text bug is caused by newlines in the string, then that's a known issue.

well I just tried copy paste a large text file of code from some other program (31870 characters), and as soon as I hit paste the editor crashed to windows with "grimrock.exe has stopped working"!
another test of 3000+ characters also crashed it
another test of 1644 characters didn't crash at all
tested with all kinds of crazy code characters (from text editing a program file), no problems
I can paste a large block over and over and over again, then copy it all (from grimrock) and paste into text editor 57713 characters, works that way
anyway, other than pasting in a HUGE amount of text at once (which just led to a crash, not any "out of sync" issue), I tried various weird stuff and couldn't reproduce this on my end
(reading that scroll in game is pretty crazy looking, all over the screen, etc, far out!)
