You are thinking about the 6 pits in the north-east corner right?

The answer is quite simple once you get the hang of the logic behind it, there are 2 separate "toggles" that are moved around in a clockwise rotation by the buttons. half of the buttons move 1 toggle and the others move the other.
What you want to do is to move the closed pits so that the one not controlled by the switch on "1" has closed the "1" tile and the other toggle is on the "4" tile
You move to the 1 tile and press the button twice so "1" and "2" are closed
Get to the other side and click the button which is on the tile N of "1" two times so the toggle moves from "1" to "3"
Press the button on "3" twice
and you can get to the nook.
Go back to "3" and press the button enough times so that the toggle is back to covering "2"
Go back to the button N of "1" and use it enough times so 1 si covered
Go back to 1 and move the toggle on "2" so that "4" is covered
