Funny thing is I'm sure I actually own a boxed copy of it, from a compilation set I bought about 15 years ago!

Oh, I'd never argue with the assertion that handcrafted = higher quality. Hurrah for great craftsmanship!
It's just that for me, roguelikes are kind of a palate-cleanser. LoG is great, and I don't want to play other similar dungeon crawlers until I'm calmer about it and can judge them on their own merits instead of doing unfair comparisons. I don't always have this "problem" as it were, but LoG happens to be exactly what I want to be playing right now, so I'm a little wound up.

I just discovered Lands of Lore right before beginning LoG.
Must admit it is awesome.

Yep, to both games! Gotta love Patrick Stuart in any game!

Go for it, Darklord! Get dosbox and fire that sumbitch up. You'll definitely enjoy it, it aged very well.

I've only recently discovered dungeon crawlers a few months ago, I played Black Crypt. Then another game that was released in 1995, I forgot what it was called. It had a very corny intro with a fat guy selling apples. This is the third dungeon crawler I've played, these games most certainly do need to be common in the future.

Not new to the genre, but LoG definitely really revitalized my interest in dungeon crawlers. It makes me wonder if there is a market for a reboot of some of the older games, as many of them have the potential to really do well with a new coat of paint and a better UI.

It restarted my appetite for them.
I didn't play them in my youth, but I did a few years ago. I enjoyed it, but never managed to finish one game even.
Now I might try again.
