People have been asking for more information about how the game will actually work. Check our new post on how the RPG system will work and a bit of level design.

Let us know what you think about it in the comments (either on the web page or here on the forum).

Thank you!

...Like, say, Grimrock? LoG looks special when it stands alone right now, but the truth is that it's just a HD version of Dungeon Master, which itself was just one of the many griddes from the past.

I'm always up for more gridders, and it's good to see more than just generic fantasy being made, even though I dislike steampunk personally. The game looks good, the graphics are nice (I hope the steel environments don't lend themselves to each level having a samey look) and the movement is nice and fast. Also props for having music. It would be also great if it were possible to, say, walk around a town or something, not just in a dungeon.

Good luck with your project, looks promising!
Hi Panda! :)
Thank you very much for your support. As the only person responsible for the visuals - it makes me happy that you like it. The graphics are in a raw pre-alpha stage and we plan to take it to another level when we find a new artist to join us. The prop-set that you are seeing in the video and screens is just one of the final sets that are planned for the game.

The game is flagged as "Steampunk" but we want to push the visuals more towards a dark industrial "lovecraftish" setting with motives from art-decor and art-noveau for some levels. We don't restrict ourselves to Steampunk's visual borders.

We are huge fans of gridders from the past - like Ishar, Lands of Lore, Eye of the Beholder etc. and we certainly have ambitions to push for more intriguing environments than just interiors. But since this is our first project as an indie team (we are all experienced pros from the game industry) we want to start with a smaller project, play it safe and if successful - move on to bigger projects.

Thank you again, and spread the word! :)

I just visited the website. I like the idea of upgrading your suit.

About the visual style, I like hearing you're not limiting yourself to the most recognizable clichés of steampunk. There are so many visually interesting things from around the same time period that it frustrates me to no end everyone is happy just copying whatever everyone else is doing. Please, please keep in mind there are more colors in the palette than black, gray and muddy brown (can you tell this is a pet peeve of mine? :) )

We have just put up a blog post on how AI pathfinding is done in Vaporum. It's detailed and technical. Enjoy the read and let us know what you think.

It’s been some time since the last update. We’ve been hard at work on various game systems as well as physical assets. We’d like to share a few screenshots of what’s cooking in our artists’ pot.
