Finaly :-)))))))

I found a solution for WIN 7 but i think it might work with any other win :-)

There apparently seems to be a problem with directx better than DX9

You need to download and install this:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/co ... px?id=8109

Enjoy :-)

Oh I see someone already found this file. But I did not mention that it worked for Win XP. That is what I am using.

I have noticed a few errors in the game related to DirectX install issues. These aren't the fault of Almost Human, but usually result from an incomplete or failed DirectX install. DXDiag will still report no problems but in fact, the install has not succeeded.

To correct a DirectX install, it's slightly difficult but the crucial thing is to figure out which part of the DirectX install has failed. In your case, it's possible the DirectX audio files have an issue and running the reinstall fixed everything. Awesome!

Installing directx 9c from the link a few posts above did fix this issue, but it's created another.

Any game using directx now suffers random HEAVY lag spikes where I go from around 60fps down to 2-4 for a 2-3min period before it just suddenly rises back to 60+ fps...

Using Win7 Pro 64bit, quadcore 2.6ghz, 8gb ram, directx 11

Sound card drivers, graphics card drivers, are all saying up to date.

EDIT: I rolled back to before installing this directx 9.0c and Grimrock will not run again, yet in other games the lad spikes are gone. So directx9 is being crappy... any ideas?

Edit 2: I tried updating directx 11 (since it incorporates dx9 file updates too) and it allowed the game to play, however any game I play that uses directx is lagging... something in one of the updated files is not working as intended. Does anyone know what file causes this "XAudio2 error in XAudio2Create"? perhaps I can just update that specific file and see what happens?

Based on this:

http://www.toymaker.info/Games/html/d3dx_dlls.html

I'd start by renaming any dll that begins with XAudio2_ in the System32 or SysWOW64 folders.

Then rerun DXSetup.exe
