The end of the game should be a fun exciting challenge. Killing things and having them come back to life 2 minutes later isn't fun OR exciting. Just annoying. Also it's impossible to try to kill a giant flail wielding monster when things are trying to blast you with magic.

It's nice to know i'm not the only one who found it a bit much. I haven't even beat it yet. after a long stretch of getting pulverized I took a break to vent on here

I would have tailored the game so there was no end-scenario auto-spawn. I would allow the player to annihilate the mobs, and had a longer battle with Cube. Maybe if you had spawn points that could be broken to stop spawns?

I think Cube was way too easy.

I agree about the last level(s). If the rest of the game was like that, it simply wouldn't be as great of a game, I might not even play it. Truth is, levels 3-6 or so are the best the game has to offer, then it all kinda feels like a rush to the end.

Ok it was too easy but you wanted it to be easier?

o.O
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
My end game stats LoG 1st play through

Cube was too easy but the other mobs were a nightmare. They were just a nuisance.

Shouldn't the floating robe guys be helping you after the final boss is set loose?

Maybe I was lucky, but the mobs on floor 12 only respawned once, after I went back from floor 13 for the first time. After I killed them again there was no more respawn, even though I went back to floor 13 a couple more times.

The only enemies that didn't stop respawning during my run were the snails in the snail room on floor 6, a lone crab on some other floor and one flying insect on floor 13.

I actually enjoyed the end of the game in spite of the respawning critters. They added danger and urgency whilst dealing with the cube of doom. I will say, though, that the puzzles for getting the disable ray gun thingy were a bit simplistic compared to the majority of the game. The only reason we can complain about this, though, is the stellar quality of the rest of the game. And it is human nature to try to find fault in even even the greatest things.

Well about that....

I mean with out the ability to summon monsters that fight would have be so much a cake walk.
Errr, that's why you need to think some proper challenge for a boss fight and not simply spawning all the random monster you put in the game.
While the general boss idea was amazing the battle was kind of meh, I'd give it 5/10, maybe some dedicated new monster (mini-cubes :D) would have been better, but it felt so random to me.

What I like in boss battles is if they play like sport matches, you win an advantage and suddenly you lose it etc. etc., the same for your opponent, but this was simply you getting closer and closer to victory while some annoying monsters were getting in the way. To be honest it didn't even feel like a boss battle, he did nothing special, all the work was done by monsters, nothing original in my opinion. I would have much preferred some dedicated boss battle area, with different challenges and puzzles, I mean a "heroes vs big boss scenario".

I hope what I said is clear even if it's written in bad english.

I mean once the cube was dead there were still annoying monsters attacking you randomly, not really epic as an ending

The boss fight was a real bastard it took many, many attempts but it was a ton of fun and I don't know if I'd change anything about it. The game had the right balance of challenge for me, but I'm sure not everyone will feel that way.
