I would suggest finding a copy of DM and eye of the beholder games, and test them out, they play the same way, if you don't like them don't bother with LoG, but I like the real time aspect of those games, and I was hooked on them for a long time and still am

my main gripe with the EOB series and BG 1 and 2, and any game that uses the Dungeon and Dragon rule set, is the magic system, I just feel the magic system doesn't work correctly in a computer game, you have to find scrolls, write them in your spell book (mage) clerics learn spells direct from the gods as they level) but then depending on level, you can only cast X amount of spells, after which you out of spells,, I just feel it a cumbersome system. but that is why Im also over the moon that LOG will use the DM system, which was far better

I wonder how many spells are in LoG? (don't tell me) but I hope there are plenty and plenty that you can find on your own? then that would be frelling awesome

enough said really

well apart from the real time aspect of the game, been grid based do have its advantages, I loved the system in DM and EoB, it really brings back memories and many other games that tried to follow suit also used a real time grid system, so its good that LoG honours those old classic games, a blast from the past so to speak

In the videos it seems to be like
slide forward one block,
slight pause,
slide forward second block,
slight pause.... etc..

Otherwise it MAY feel too slow and interrupted, hard to say because I haven't played it yet
That's the beauty of this system you have absolute control over your movement, if you press forward twice you will go forward two squares, it's far more precise than most systems. Also it's as fast or as slow as you press the button, so if you want to rush about you can if you want to take it slow, no problem! :)

yes, yes, Iam aware how this kind of engine works. I bought DM on my Atari ST immediately as it was released.. (and got early version where statistics rise very very slowly when sleep) played DM through about two months ago again, was about xxx:th time :). I also played Chaos Strikes Back (and CSBwin lately), EoB1, EoB2, EoB3, Lands Of Lores, Might and Magic I-V etc... and even programmed my own DM engine on Atari ST (and Iam pro sw engineer novadays).

So as I know how the engine works, my question was only related to that pause implemented in moving between blocks, and if this time that smooth moving is implemented "correctly", because in goold old times it usually wasn't , it slowed movement too much, and if it was possible I always turned smooth moving off.
