Agreed. The ice lizards were not worth the effort; painful little boogers.
Besides, minmay, Snails and Ice Lizards are mobs that must be killed in order to trigger a food drop. I was talking about Fish in Grimrock 2 which is a direct food source. You brought up an indirect food source. You just have to click on the fish and place them in your inventory. Last I checked, if you try to put a Snail or Ice Lizard in your inventory you die
But if you want to discuss indirect food sources then that's fine. Running between levels in LoG 1 to trigger more mobs for food is a terrible process that involves too much back-tracking. It is more sensible to simply carry excess food with you from level to level. In Grimrock 2 there are more mobs in more convenient areas, and quicker ways to access them via the Hub, that respawn as an indirect food source (turtles, frogs, snakes, wolves, herders).
And of course, there are replenishing sources of direct food, like fish in multiple locations.
Grimrock 1 does not have replenishing sources of direct food at all, and LoG 2 has more mobs that respawn for indirect food. Plus we now have an item that eliminates hunger effects. These are the reasons that food has become less a factor in the second game. This is a good balance I think (as the other poster stated).
