Elf needs food badly!
Elf needs food badly!
Good morning all! I'm on level 4 and I'm pretty much out of food with two hungry front line fighters to feed. Has any one encountered food drop re-spawn monsters similar to Dungeon Master's Shriekers? It sure would be nice to at least slow the sense that I'm forced to rush through each level just to find more food. Mind you, I realize that is kind of the point of the food system, but I really would like to take my time the first time through this gem!
Re: Elf needs food badly!
Honestly, I'm totally baffled that you have run out of food so early! Do you have lots of minotaurs? Personally I've got enough food to use it for plates/traps, and I certainly don't rush.Vic20 wrote:Good morning all! I haven't encountered any creature that respawns and drop food, yet. And I've just started on level 6. Have you considered resting less? I've found that resting is a massive food consumer. Try using the Healing Stones more often (the big, blue, hovering crystal-like stones), should save you some food.

I remember reading about some spell to conjure food, though I don't remember where. Might just be my imagination, or someone asking whether is there or not.
Re: Elf needs food badly!
Sadly yes, I have two front line minotaurs and didn't notice that they consume food 25% faster than other races by default. Also, yes I've slept a fair bit (damn lvl 3 spiders!) so perhaps I need to start over?
Re: Elf needs food badly!
That may be a bit drastic. Just remember most food refills about half of your food bar. Just save food till it gets low, and your men starts to get hungry. I don't know if it's possible to die by starvation, if it isn't you might still be able to get through it with your current team. It would be a challenge surely, but it might prove fun?Vic20 wrote:Sadly yes, I have two front line minotaurs and didn't notice that they consume food 25% faster than other races by default. On the other hand, if you are truly doomed to fail this now, you might as well start over now instead of continuing just to die at a later time.
But I agree with you, those pesky spiders really are bothersome. I've found that you can open a door, hit them a couple of times, then close it again before they can retaliate. This tactic is especially useful if you got ice spells to freeze them!
Re: Elf needs food badly!
Thanks for the tips! Yeah, I've made several mistakes both in character generation and play decisions so I think I'll take my accumulated knowledge of spells, character generation, party composition, and puzzle solutions and just start over. I'll bet I can be back to level 4 in half the time it took me to get there on this 1st run and with way more food! Again, thanks for the tips!
Re: Elf needs food badly!
I'm crawling around level 5 of the dungeon now and my food supply bag only has 8 more things in it. There were a lot of food-carrying enemies on the first two levels but I haven't seen a single one since level 3. Meanwhile, I'm so paranoid about my party starving to death that I started saving on a different slot each time I come across apuzzle that takes me longer than 5 minutes to complete. That way I can figure out the solution without having to worry about taking too long and "wasting" food.
My party only has one minotaur in it, and I've only ever eaten food when the bar turned red, although my fighters don't have the -25% food consumption-thingy from the Atheltics skill yet.

Re: Elf needs food badly!
Sounds about right! I think i really did myself no favors by taking two Minotaurs for my front fighters..blinded by the stats I was!

Thanks a lot for that! My party might be saved after all, if they can manage to get through level 5 in one piece.2Xmatch wrote:Good food supply onSpoilerShowLevel 6 most definite, there is an area where snails spawn. I would hurry there if i were you

Also (don't read this unless you've got to at least level 7 without using pit falls):

Isn't it on level 6, where you get trapped with no way to return? Or is it when you enter level 7? Can't seem to remember now!
