iPad

Post by netmute »

I really, really, REALLY want to play this on my shiny Retina iPad ;)

So, when will this be? I don't want a date, just a general guideline. This year? Summer? Winter? :P

I think it'll depend on how well the game does on PC first.

I don't own a PC :/

Besides that, I think Grimrock will look better on the new iPad hires screen than on every other device one could possess ;)
(Please don't start a flamewar, PCs look pretty good too!)

You could always look into virtual machines on the iPad, or flashing it and installing a different operating system. I'm sure there'll be some way to do it. :)

I'm not aware of any 'open' VMs for iOS - there probably aren't any because they would enable a secondary, non-apple controlled market.

There was some c64 emu which was 'open', and that wasn't ok by apple - but if it was restricted to running exactly n specific games, it was ok..

That said, there's no way any vm would run fast enough to simulate x86, windows, grimrock etc. at the same time on iPad's ARM CPU. Not to mention way insufficient memory etc..

Well I haven't looked into the specifics of it. Usually people crack these things though. I wouldn't be surprised if Grimrock is released for Linux eventually and someone manages to get it running on that.

A native build with tweaked controls etc would still be better ;)
