to throw a pot (slang) = to drink a potion

I found this puzzle this afternoon after deciding to fill the watery parts of the map in around Sleet Island. My guys are level 11 and I managed to survive the puzzle without requiring potions. I noticed that once the gate is open it stays open so you can dart back up for breath, then back down again to pick up the bounty.
