Concealed buttons in walls

Post by Spathi »

Does is have these? In EOTB, it was addictive looking for little buttons everywhere. It would be good if there were many types of hidden things.

Someone didn't pay close attention to the vids already posted on this site ;)

Shorter answer: Yes
Short answer: Yes, but I do hope it's more than 1 type of button / tileset. So it doesn't get predictable.

Can't watch vids for a few hours yet, just wanted to get my 2c in, ;oP

I loved it when I had to open that first door of eotb, at least I think it was eotb.

Also make Maces useful, sick of swords, almost every other rpg... arrows, swords, fireballs, heal, arrows, swords, fireballs, heal, gets boring. (another 2c)

Agreed, that would be a nice touch.

I sure noticed the little button, and all those memories from when running in circle for several hours just came back to me. How frustrating, and fun it was to finally find the little button in the wall :)

My fun with that (in EOB) was ruined as soon as I found out there was a hotkey that activated the button on any wall you faced; with no need for a mouse click (and no need to have seen the button).

**** Incidentally (since this is the greatest concentration of EOB players I've found on the web)... Does anyone out there recall the (only?) hidden button of level 10 in EOB? (It was just south of the three mantis warriors)
Anyone know what it was for? It boggled me for years (as you can tell  ).

I believe that button simply activated a series of hidden walls that lead to a pit. The pit took you to L11 with the Ankh and Orb portals.

As a massive EoB fan (actually on another playthrough the last couple of weeks, this time with one lonely paladin (I killed off the other 3 party members in level 1 on purpose :)) .. anyway I wanted to check what you were on about as I can't recall by heart.. anyway there are 2 secret buttons on level 11 and this is what they do, see the map for reference on location:

14. Button on the west wall, a mantis warrior will appear to the east behind you. There is a useless (meh! :p) wand here.

44. Secret button on the west wall. Pushing it opens the passage to the south.

This is wonderful to be able to ask this. Thank you :D

(But the answer is not in the Clue Book; sadly It may do nothing at all, but I was never sure.)
The button I'm curious about is in the room where the three mantis warriors ambush your party; (after the Special Quest).

Hmm interesting, I'm not sure if I knew about this one.. I'm deep in the drow catacombs right now and I'll check it out when I get back to lvl10. Chances are big however I'll conclude the same as you did as not finding out.

The only way left would be to check the resource files and see if it's possible to find the script it pulls when clicking the button ... which is not a simple feat depending on the file structure.
