I have some items I made for LoG1 that I'd like to port to LoG2. However, some of them are derived from models, textures, and icons in the LoG1 asset pack that are not present in LoG2. Is it acceptable to use these assets in LoG2 anyway?
(For my own purposes, I'm only interested in a few item models, item materials, and item icons; none of the environment/monster/prop/etc assets. But I suspect I'm not the only one who wants to do this, so I'm asking in general.)
Can we use LoG1 assets in LoG2 mods?

Yes, that would be helpful.

They've asked us not to recreate Grimrock 1 the game in Grimrock 2, but it would be nice to know their stance on using assets from Grimrock 1 for original mods in Grimrock 2.

Yes, it's perfectly ok to use assets from Grimrock 1 in Grimrock 2 mods. Many models and textures, especially all monsters from Grimrock 1 are in the dat file of Grimrock 2.
