So, what do you think of the Legend of Grimrock Magic System
I think the Magic System in Legend of Grimrock is very cool
I like how i arrange those runes to form new spells
how do other ppl here like it?

It's awesome! Very Dungeon Master like.

Its fun... but I rather see that it remembers the last spell I used rather than a reset when a spell is cast.

I like it, but i would prefer it if the rune table could just stay open. Click the hand/staff to open the rune table and it stays that way until you close it manually (maybe a small X somewhere).

I really like it. Makes you think about spells and memorize them instead just choosing from a list. Spells shouldn't be child's play!

That's not a bad idea. There's already an X in the top right corner that closes the rune menu. There could be an option to keep it open after casting a spell.Planetkill wrote:I like it, but i would prefer it if the rune table could just stay open. Re: So, what do you think of the Legend of Grimrock Magic Sy
there is only one thing what bothers me. You need a free hand to cast.
i.e my fighter carries a sword+shield, my rogue dagger+torch
i need a compass to navigate so i gave it to one of my mages. but i need a free hand to cast, so i can not equip a weapon.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster
Re: So, what do you think of the Legend of Grimrock Magic Sy
I've got a staff equiped and the compass / whatever else in my mage hands, and I can cast. No need of free hands.

you can cast with a staff, not just free hand
ye, i would like it also remember the last spell i casted
so i don't need to click again, but then the game would become slightly easier
The rune stay open until manually close is a good idea..
I also want to add that, the dev should add a list of magic combination ingame
so there is a list to see ingame after "discovered" or got the scroll..
but then i have already written down on a piece of paper..

Re: So, what do you think of the Legend of Grimrock Magic Sy
I kind of wish there were more spells. I really tried to experiment with all sorts of combinations, and even though I'd occasionally get "You are not skilled enough to cast this spell", 99% of the time it would just be an invalid combination. The actual spell list for the game is pretty small. It does its job, I was just expecting experimentation to pay off more.
As for letting the game 'remember' your spells or whatever, no. It's fine as it is. I'm playing on hard difficulty and my mage is easily the most reliable source of damage I have. Most of the time I only need a short range lightning burst anyway. You've only got to remember 1-2 runes in the heat of combat--not difficult!
