Zarchton Harpoon

Post by Palandus »

For those that don't know, the Zarchton Harpoon is the only weapon that can be used underwater. I've found at least two in the game already. Thought people should know.

It is a Light Twohanded Weapon.

So this means that with 5 in Light Weapons you can Backstab with it.

Or with 5 in Heavy Weapons you can wield it in one hand.

There is also a spear somewhere in the game, don't remember where.
You can use it under water.

Which is quite artificial and silly. I understand why slashing or impact weapons do not work, but if you can stab with a spear, you could stab with a sword or dagger as well.

There are in fact two of those tribal spears to find. Both are inside secrets; one in the ruins and one in the catacombs.

I haven't found any of them.

And I have finished the game. I killed some underwater creatures by just jumping on them...

Jumping on them doesn't give you XP. Although, by the time you find the harpoon, you don't really need that meager XP bonuses from killing Zarchtons and turtles...

Would be much more useful to have something to allow breathing under water...

As if the fact that you can't raise your head above the water at any time wasn't artificial and silly enough. :) Or the fact that you need ladders to climb out of an underwater pit.

True, but it's useful to not have them blocking the way, I had to pray for good RNG when in the flooded cache when getting the crystal cuirass.

Well, if you could swim to the surface wearing the full Meteor Suit, I would be pretty surprised! Actually, characters swimming while wearing any armor bulkier or heavier than regular clothing is one of my pet peeves in video games :P

Video quite related: Swimming in full plate test

Have to say, I did not know that the tribal spear could be used underwater. Much easier to obtain that than a harpoon.
