Re: Legend of Grimrock 3
I would want a few different things, but the biggest 5 would be:
1. A Much better magic system. Mages specialized in 1 element their entire lives, shouldn't only have 3-4 spells to use and then be completely powerless and useless...
2. Better golden keys/locks reward. LoG 1 had very awesome rewards with choice. LoG 2, most of the rewards sucked and were inferior to other things that can be found in other parts of the game if you know where to look.
3. Bigger. Way bigger, MASSIVELY bigger! When I got to the 4 choices at Sleet Island, I went to the ruins first, thinking it would be the easiest. Instead it was the longest, and took many hours to explore it and solve everything. Then I went to the Crystal Mines, the Bog, and the Cementary and... They were short... Really really disappointingly short. in LoG 1, the secrets were optional but the game was still massive and long. LoG 2 tho... Since it's not linear, more than half the game is optional, especially if you know all the puzzle solutions so don't need to go to other areas to get the area. And that brings up another problem with it, being that since your not backtracking and some of the areas are actually optional, You can very easily complete the game very very quickly.
My first playthrough was completely blind, and took a really long time and I didn't do any optional things. I just completed the Elements, went to the castle, and killed the boss. The second playthrough I went through to complete EVERYTHING in the game, including the 5th element, secret boss, and see the true ending. But because I knew where most things were and all the puzzle answers, I completed the game much MUCH faster. First playthrough took me about 25ish hours and missed a lot of things, the second one took only about 6ish to complete everything. So yeah, bigger game. No 1 area is only a tiny little 5 min area and the next is 3 hour area. Make them all long and massive. I want each dungeon to be an entire game all on it's own. That's what I was thinking when I got the Sleet Island. It listed 4 places, and I thought each one would be as massive as the first game.
4. More enemies. While there are many enemies, in each area there is only actually about 2-3 different ones. The Bog has only 3 enemies, and the Cementary only has 3 enemies, and even the Pyramid has only 3 enemies. The crystal mines only has 2 enemies even. I want to see more different enemies.
5. More items. I think this is the biggest weakness in LoG 1 and 2. There are very little item choices. LoG 2 actually gave more armor choices/sets, which is nice, but I want more weapons too. In LoG 1 and 2 there are some weapons that are just plain better than anything else, and as soon as you pick it up you'll never use anything else. I wouldn't mind seeing more choices kinda like in LoG 1 with the different types of weapons. Axes more dmg but less Acc, Hammer going threw defence but longer cooldown, Sword being more Acc and faster, but not as much raw dmg. There are no choices like that in LoG 2, there are only Heavy and Light weapons with 1 weapon being the best in each. It's the same with LoG 1, but you could have each character specialized in a different weapon type and each have an epic weapon at the end. LoG 2, there are only 2 weapons types and only 1 'best' in each. So if you have 4 fighters, only 2 would get good weapons. Even worse if 2+ of the people are going to duel wield light weapons.
Which reminds me that some weapon choices are just so small! Daggers for example. There are only 3 in the entire game and 1 can only hurt Elementals and nothing else! There is only 1 Crossbow, and there are 3 Bows, 2 are magical and behind golden locked gates, and there is only 1 two handed light weapon. Which is funny because it's pointless. Light Weapons is meant to Duel Wield, it's Heavy Weapons that can use a two handed 'heavy' weapon in 1 hand. But since the two handed is a 'light' weapon, it can't be used in 1 hand, making it 'inferior' to every other light weapon that can either be duel weilded or used with a shield while this one can't, and heavy weapons can all be used with a shield once you get to lvl 5.
That reminds me. A #6. Better leveling up/skill system. The skill system in LoG 1 is better than in LoG 2. While skills are no longer tied to classes which is good, they are also not very good. Most of the skills I will NEVER use, ever. Simply because some other skill is a better option. Especially since for most skills it's just a tiny boost in something minor.

Re: Legend of Grimrock 3
Well... I guess some NPC or smaller places (villages or cities) would be nice in next game. If there will be next game

I counted at least 7 daggers including Ethereal Blade excluding Assassin's, 2 (identical) crossbows and 4 bows (2 identical) with 1 being magical.Jirodyne wrote:Which reminds me that some weapon choices are just so small! Oh and about "Bigger. Way bigger, MASSIVELY bigger!": LoG1 has 13 levels while LoG2 has 34. That's way bigger!
Re: Legend of Grimrock 3
Are you sure? LoG 2 is only 20% bigger if I remember right. And even if you know where everything is in LoG 1, you still have to go through 90% of the game, the other 10% being secrets. Here in LoG 2, most of it is actually optional with many many shortcuts for those that have played before and the game is very very quick, even if you DO go threw and do everything. LoG 1 was long because you had to do most of the puzzles and there was very little side tracking for secrets. LoG 2 the 'longness' is only for the first time run when your figuring everything out, because it forces you to go do other puzzles on the otherside of the entire map to find the solution to the first puzzle and back tracking. Doesn't make the game bigger in my opinion, just annoyingly longer for the first run, then waaaay too short a second+ run.Dr.Disaster wrote:Oh and about "Bigger. Going threw LoG 1, you had progression and reward. LoG 2, there is no progression and reward because you can go ANYWHERE, except the final 3-4 puzzles before the boss, and get any item at any point in time. You can kill the Viper boss, skip on threw the forest dungeon easily, then run on threw to pick up the Meteor and go to the Crystal mines to get the Meteor Hammer forged before anything else and be able to use it and the Meteor spell as early as lvl 5, and continue on threw it to get more of the Crystal armor, plant, and the Lightning Bow and free easy Power Gems. LoG 1 had great pacing and replayability because nothing changes so you can test your build against those situations. In LoG 2 tho, because you can go anywhere and gear your guys right from the beginning with little to no effert at all... It doesn't take much to be able to use items or armor... not at all...
Re: Legend of Grimrock 3
I hope Grimrock III will never be like Wizardry or Might & Magic. The story NPC cities in the dungeon does not belong.

Agreed with you, I feared that NPC come in LoGII, but it doesn't happen, I'm happy about it.DeDy wrote:I hope Grimrock III will never be like Wizardry or Might & Magic. The story NPC cities in the dungeon does not belong.

Last time i checked 34 was bigger then 13. The open world setup prolly mislead your judgement.Jirodyne wrote:Are you sure? LoG 2 is only 20% bigger if I remember right.Dr.Disaster wrote:Oh and about "Bigger. Way bigger, MASSIVELY bigger!": LoG1 has 13 levels while LoG2 has 34. That's way bigger!
LoG1 is linear. You got exactly one route to go with just a few shortcuts (i.e. lvl 8) or skipable areas (i.e. Halls of Fire).Jirodyne wrote:And even if you know where everything is in LoG 1, you still have to go through 90% of the game, the other 10% being secrets. LoG2 is non-linear and when you know where everything is you can indeed work out a lot of shortcuts if you want to. No forced playthoughs of everything here.
Aye you can (kinda) rush from Sleet Island to the Mines to get the Meteor Hammer but you'll remain quite fragile.Jirodyne wrote:You can kill the Viper boss, skip on threw the forest dungeon easily, then run on threw to pick up the Meteor and go to the Crystal mines to get the Meteor Hammer forged before anything else and be able to use it and the Meteor spell as early as lvl 5, and continue on threw it to get more of the Crystal armor, plant, and the Lightning Bow and free easy Power Gems.
Re: Legend of Grimrock 3
I have finished this at last and here my hopes for 3rd part (which obviously must come out)
1. If there would be firearms it must be hardly buffed, because even this "epic" cannon do only 50-70 dmg with 5 lvl in firearm, thats too low, especially if take in count that you get only like 50 cannon balls for entire game, same with bullets, it cant be created and with 20-40 dmg it like you throw a pillow to enemy. For example blowpipe did much more dmg with reusable dart even without range/throw weapon proficiency.
2. Please PLEASE PLEEEEASE never do that Insane Ironman mode again or, at least, dont make that achievement. Because for me game, that I waited for year become a nightmare. Half time I just keep telling "please dont die" and "where the f*** crystall", and when you get your party killed in some trap after 2-3 hours you beckme really pissed off.
And for those who want to tell me not to use that, I want to get all achievents in first time, this kinda lame to walk through over and over, and do that without my nerves damaged. For example in LoG1 I get all in 1st run, have fun of that and rerun game 2 times more after half a year, and this because good first impression.
In LoG2 I have a really bad impression with that Ironman, the only good memory is desert, because that was really cool, and i can't think about my party when I enter it, that was more like film scene. But almost all other lokations is kind of searching for crystalls, trying not to loose and writing dawn thing that I must done after saving the game, because some places was really challenging and I cant risk previous 2 hours.
3. I think that Epic things must really be Epic, hard to find, behind most difficult puzzles, now so much, but it must be MUCH better then ordinary things. In LoG1 Frosen Hummer, Orb of Radiance and Dismantler were really great, with great abilities and difficult obtainind, in LoG2 there no much difference between Bane and Great Axe. So there must be only few epic items but they must be really powerfull.
4. Please return treasures from Log1.

Actually i wondered that the achievement was "only" for Insane IronmanBouH wrote:2. Please PLEASE PLEEEEASE never do that Insane Ironman mode again or, at least, dont make that achievement.
You're really want to tell us that you got LoG 1 "Dungeon Runner" on 1st try?For example in LoG1 I get all in 1st run, have fun of that and rerun game 2 times more after half a year, and this because good first impression.
Well that's the point in a challenge. Don't want it? Don't take it.But almost all other lokations is kind of searching for crystalls, trying not to loose and writing dawn thing that I must done after saving the game, because some places was really challenging and I cant risk previous 2 hours.
