Because if you have a powerful PC that can run it on max frames, the game renders way over 200 Frames per second, resulting in noise from the computer and also a considerable amount of heat. Enabling VSync solves that. Or just limit the frames a bit .

I think the framerate should be limited to something like 100 by default. You can take the limit off, at your own risk, in the options.

Yes indeed, I started to play Grimrock with in-ear headphones, those mute external sounds very well.. you really don't hear that GPU fans spin at max speed and heat rises.. douh

This is being added in the first patch. But yeah when I started the game I was getting tearing which was pretty ugly, enabling VSync helped a lot with this.
