Good review; having now just completed the game, I agree with most of it.
Fortunately, I completed the Runemaster's challenge straight away and completed the Pyramid shortly after the Ruins of Desarune (thinking 'that staff looks mighty important~ better snatch'; though never making the link that you're meant to shoot it at the door for ages lol).
One thing that jumped out at me was how funny it was that you can get the first 8 power gems together really quite rapidly, but you have to really do loads of work for nearly all of the others. It was like a sudden momentum change after leaving the swamp. Not that was necessarily bad; but it did have me worried about 6-7 hours in that it would only take me 15 hours to clear the game (In the end I clocked a respectable 39.5 hours).
Still a little disappointed that Earth Magic is terrible (as it was in LoG 1). Actually, let me clarify that; its great used against you... but not when you're using it (due to the difference between your HP and the HP of most enemies, and the fact enemies rarely sit nicely and inhale poison for you). Actually, whilst I'm here, this is something that always bugged me: why is Earth actually associated with Poison? I guess stalagmite or boulder shot type things are less creative, but I'd love something like that (especially if knocked foes back like the Master does to you). And it would be nice if you got the Crystal Shield's Heal effect with Earth 5; would really make it feel worth it going up that far.

I figured out how to access the 5th shrine without it. You get the clue for what to do and where to do it elsewhere, which is all you need.Dr.Disaster wrote:On the contrary. Personally I thought the six sides clue referred to a puzzle I failed to solve in the pyramid.

It does. On the forgotten river, or Sleet Island, map there is a Statue that says "Everything has 4 sides to it" Then in the Desert is one that says you've been lied to, everything has 6 sides. And it is a clue for the very hidden Relic achievement puzzle.Ixnatifual wrote:I figured out how to access the 5th shrine without it. There's also a head that says there are two sides to everything. My theory is that the stone heads just really like even numbers, and you're reading too much into it.

Not sure that's true, as it doesn't help you figure out where the Relic is located. I think the lore of the world just has 6 being a very powerful number, both for the element of balance, the cubes, mythology, etc.Jirodyne wrote:It does.
