Food Supplies & Rats

Post by Washac »

Before I start adventuring again on the island I was wondering about food supplies.

I do not want to rush through the game as some seem to want to do these days, I want to explore see what there is
to find etc, Is there enough food laying around in the game to sustain exploration, or will I discover other ways to
keep my party from starving ?

How many of those rats are there in the Twigroot Tunnels, they seem neverending ? My party are all level 4
and they wiped me out.

Do not worry about spoilers, I do not mind.

I'm kind of a slow paced explorer myself. I'm also organised hoarder type so I often waste time organising my collections in Hub or in various chests around Forgotten River area. In my present party (characters at level 10) I got one minotaur and none of the characters has Endure trait. Also I have never done any "hunting" for respawning turtles and the like. Still, playing on normal difficulty, I got plenty of food. At the moment I have three full crates, two full bags and some toad's tongues and herders caps here and there. I can't really say if I will encounter any problems with food supply in the future but I doubt it.

I found food to be common early in the game as you did all the overworld areas and most monsters there drop food. When I was done with that and went to do the various dungeons my food supplies began to decrease threateningly. At some point I was all out of food, but was able to get two bags full again by fishing and killing the areas that spawn wolves, as well as hunting for turtles underwater.

Starving isn't the end of the world though. It simply means that you don't regenerate health and energy, and the crystals can do that for you.

I'm playing on Normal Difficulty and do not have many issues with food, gladly. Just be sure to save every food item you come across, and either bring them with you or stash some in a marked area.

A different way you are able to acquire food in this game is by catching fish, which you are able to do by clicking the fish swimming around when you are moving underwater. I have spent a few minutes catching some of them, but there are still many more going about their business, so I feel good knowing that if, for some reason, I run completely out of food, I can always jump in the water and grab some more. However, note that not all areas have underwater sections, so you'll need to backtrack for this.

There is more food than can possibly be eaten. I have filled 3 or 4 crates with it and lately I've just been eating 50% foods even if I'm just a little hungry. Sometimes I don't even pick it up anymore.

For the record, so far I've explored the River, Bog, Island, and Pyramid. And, of course, everything before that.

I finished with 5 boxes full of food, and I left a lot of fish in the lake and river.
