How many golden keys are there to find?

So I'm at the stage of the game where things start to open up (sleet island/forgotten river) and I've just realized that in the first grimrock there was this whole golden key thing going on, and that I may have used some without realizing that they are in fact a limited resource.

So, exactly how limited are they?

Asking because I believe I spent one on deactivating a forcefield to get a wand which I replaced pretty soon after, and also on unlocking the thief's cache which had some cool stuff in it (lockpicks and a good bow), but I've also seen mention that there are other caches later on, and maybe even a master key which unlocks all locks...

I'm going to be restarting anyway as I'm unhappy with my progress and such. Spent a lot of time mapping out herb/food locations only to realize that they don't respawn, plus I dumped a lot of wooden boxes/other random crap because in grimrock 1 wooden boxes were extra weight but here with the hub I can actually use them to organize my shit and satisfy my inner hoarder (along with dumping duplicates/useless shit in the larger chests)

I found 11 golden keys during the game and i have completed every secret and so on. I know what wand you mean. And yes its sh.. not so good. You can get a very good wand for free at sleet island.
Once you beat the game you get that master key.

Yeah I found the storm orb at sleet island and got a bit disappointed with wasting the key. It wasn't that hard to get either damn it.

How many opportunities to use golden keys are there though? There's the wand in the force cage thing, and the 4 caches in the cache outside the big castle in the forgotten river area, are there other caches or instances in which keys can be used?

Yes there are few more caches. At a rough estimate there are 20 uses for gold keys. But mostly they dont have good items inside because your gear is better if you reach them.

Damn it now I'm missing a golden key in my new playthrough! I distinctly remember having one for using on the forcefield cage in the forgotten river but I don't have one for some reason.
