4 Wizards needs help with skill points

Post by nattsurfaren »

Playing wizards is getting hard and I have spent all earned skill points on magic and 2 skill points found in tomes on alchemy. It has worked fine but I feel that those hard earned skill points are easy to waste without helping me very much. I could spend it on concentration but it only give me a little bit more magic and the protection cube will last a few seconds longer. I have ignored armor so I'm wondering if I should spend those skill points on that? I don't know. What do you think is best?

3 in Conc is vary nice that bonus to Energy regen helps.

You can focus each one in a element you would need some foreknowledge of the spells since they need a mix of skills and you would be vary sad at the guy with earth.

doing that would would only need about 10 skill points to max out one element get 3 conc and by the 1 or 2 points needed in other elements to patch the missing skills so they can cast all their elements spells.

This means you would start to have "free" points to use once you hit mid game.

How well would this work? No idea I'd would not run all mages personally.

a spell that grew on me more and more was invisibility. really is great for avoiding ambushes and setting up the best possible position to begin combat from.

make sure at least one of your wizards knows that.

make sure two of your wizards know meteor, as that stays useful for the entire game.

make sure at least two of your wizards knows ice bolt, and they should have a high water skill to help the freeze chance.

and make sure one of your wizards knows the lightning bolt spell, to deal with elementals other than wind.

armor is going to be a problem methinks. I would have gone with battlemages up front if I wanted an all magic party, just so they could more easily wear heavy armor. I don't really have a suggestion for an all wizard team; there simply isn't enough good light armor in the game to cover 4 wizards. at least give your up front wizards the light armor skill, so one can wear the mirror set, and maybe the other the reed set. the other two can wear the archmage set, and the rogue set. best I can think of.

good luck!

What if I upgrade all wizards to full on armor skill. Then I would be able to wear heavy armor?

You can wear heavy armor even without the skill, your evasion will just suck.

All the class does is determine your class bonus, starting HP and energy, and HP/energy gain per level. Otherwise you can do anything any other class can, provided you have the skill for it.

I agree with this guy. You could have your front liners more focused on just getting metor and then dump everything else into armor, dodge, and maybe athlehics to make a beefy front line that are still casters.

This would let you get your back liners to filling the holes magically.

I would also say having someone max out alchemisty would also be a most just for the mana pots and access to other pots (form of the bear could be usful in a pinch)

you could... but likely you would be unable to move. heavy armor is... heavy.

you really don't want to gimp your wizards by pumping a ton of points into strength. another reason I suggested battlemages up front (half weight for armor).

putting just 2 points in armor lets you wear light armor without penalty, and that's as good as you're likely going to be able to wear.

like I said... use invisibility. a lot. your goal as only wizards will be trying not to get hit, period.

I think you may have chosen the single hardest party to complete the game with myself.

Ya I am going to be honest, if you have 2 battlemages in front, they will still have enough energy to cast spells, plus they will be able to wield armor without suffering too much from the weight of it, normal wizards will always have problems using it, plus you would have to heavily invest into strength to make it work, thus sacrificing vitality or potentially willpower.

The other benefit of having a battlemage is that you would also have more hp and using a ward or orb would straight up give you 10 protection and 10 resist all, thus making you tankier in the front line

Isn't strength used for heavy weapons and being able to carry much stuff. What if I only invest in armor? Will strength have an effect on armor?

Strength will only increase your weight capacity if you are not planning on using weapons that scale off strength, I am just saying that if you had battlemages, the issue of not having enough carrying capacity to wear armor wouldnt be so much of an issue
