Rogue. Expert Throwing or Light Weapons?

Post by eLPuSHeR »

Hello.

I have started Grimrock from scrath for the fourth time. Testing party compositions. What do you suggest to expert for my rogue: Throwing weapons, Light weapons + Dual Wield, Bows/Crossbows?

i think that a minotaur with headhunter will do the most dps in game as a throw rogue, since dual wielding throwing wpn's has no downside. missles are not powerfull (2 runs with missles, rlly not impresed), and guns are a complete joke. dual wield rogue can be STR or DEX based. both are a solid choice, but i think a barb would do more dmg with dual wield then rogue, since i heard that the dual wield dmg pentaly is based on the wpn base dmg, not actualy the whole dmg (need testing to say for 100% shure), and as a barb you will have much more hp and storage capacity.

Throwing weapons oughta have two different classes like light weapons.
Kinda silly when a big muscular minotaur barbarian is better at throwing ninja stars than a skilled and agile rogue.
stones and axes = strength
darts and shuriken = dexterity
Makes a lot more sense and allows more variety.

I think throwing knives use DEX too. How about going the Light weapons Dual Wield way?

Honestly I also agree with that, I know that strength would influence how hard you throw objects, but there are weapons that the way you throw them you need to be agile in order to throw them efficiently and with as a much deadly accuracy as possible.

Throwing weapons use strength, knives included.

It's not silly that a barbarian can throw a shuriken harder than a dex rogue. The rogue's going to hit the target much more often.

every throwing wpn is STR based. just take a minotaur with headhunter. you will have enough points to put in to accuracy, dont worry about that. dex is useless on throwing based chars

I will try the dual wield for light weapons (or bows).

On my second runthrough on hard I created a missle based rogue. Pumped up her dex, missle to level 5, crit to level 5, and working on accuracy now. She has 20 pts of armor piercing, crits 1/3rd of the time, never misses, and has a ranged attack. I'd say missle is a pretty good choice ;)
