Just finished the game

Post by Drakkan »

Hi AH and everybody around. Just finished game on hard mode. 19 hours and 28 minutes. Not bad I guess for a first try. Just wanted to share my feelings and point out some observations.

Difficuly
Playing on hard option was the real challenge for me and I suggest this option to every old-school RPG lover. There was moments, where my heroes starved, which never happened to me in LOG1. Also due to the difficulty I really used alchemy and bomb creation. Especially bombs are really nice add-on. Resurrection potions ? give me more !
I loved majority of the puzzles, solved all of them myself (just need some advices to find last two shrines). Overall whole dungeon and areas are very nicely done.

As for new classes / traits I am quite ok. I am little dissapointed from the skill redistribution and level advanacing - very often happens to me, that I had unused points and I did not have any need to invest it. At the end - warrior just need skill up armor and weapons and mage max up his class / concentration. No real need for any other skill input. Example - as figter using heavy weapons I want max my crit chance. So I can invest one precious point to gain 3% crit. In case i will continue investing points to crit, I will gain backstab with daggers and bakcstab with light weapon - really no use :/ what I want to say thas skill system is quite llimiting at the end and I expected more from it. Hope modders will have some possibilites to mod this as they like.

Firearms - real dissapointment. also alchemist class useless. I think there are already some threads about it, so will not write more

Weapons "charging" - spending several second activating special attack during combat is something warrior cannot afford. I even cast spell faster, than charging special attack. I understand that this is part of Log2 system now and it will be not changed, but I think it could be handled better.

Ending of the game - Whole castle area was quite... meh. I expected some heavy combat here, some knights in armours, new enemies or something...epic and harder. Yeah the final fight (last two) was REALLY great, but still, I expected little more from whole area.

I do not have any other negative observations, as everything other were really improved and there is REALLY lots of thing I loved. So just wanted to thank you for making this sequel, I will definitely spend another ten and maybe hundreds hours with editor, so hope you will support us modders as you always had in the past. Thanks

You didn't think the alchemist's herb cultivation ended up being worth that class over a wizard, perhaps? Even with the use you got out of alchemy? Or was it a disappointment solely due to the firearms?

Hi and thx for your impression. What level did your heros have in the end? I'd really liek to have at least an idea to plan how I'm going to spend the skillpoints..

also alchemist class useless.
lol, what?
My alchemist saved my butt a dozen times. Probably more than any other class.
Healing potions so I'm not crippled and unable to carry my weight anymore, thus getting stuck.
Revive potions, for boss fights.
Bombs, for when I don't have the elemental weakness of the enemy with my battlemage.
SpoilerShow
Lighting Bombs on skeletons helped a lot
Plus he brews permanent stat boosting items.

His damage output isn't great, but for support I don't think there's a better class.

Well to be clear everything you listed here can be done by anyone with alchemisty skill.

But what he does bring to the table is the power to grow herbs which is really handy and to me a good reason to bring one in on a party.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Even with the ability to grow herbs, I run out of red, purple, and of course the crystal one.

Never use your last herb and you will never run out. Also you can game the system by off loading all but the herb you want onto another party member.

I didn't mean drop to zero, as I figured I needed an herb to grow a new one.
But when I drop from 35 red herbs to 6, it feels like I've run out. : /
I've thought about doing that to grow the crystal herbs, but I didn't want to this first time through.

Pretty sure the herbs are confirmed to multiply at a fixed rate independent of the other herbs. There's no need to offload anything for specific herb farming, you can carry them all at once.
