Any updates...?

Post by thomson »

I'm not trying to be ungrateful or anything... just posting a humble note to myself. If you happen to be from AH team, please ignore this message.

The last LoG2 update was posted mid April... <looks at calendar and sees June> ;)

I'm sure AH is just busy and don't want to waste their vaulable time with revealing any of the awesomeness they've been working on...

Nevermind, I'll re-read the last update umpteenth time ;)

I hear ya man. I've been checking the site every day for the past week or two.

Lots of good games to come out this year, but this one's my #1. Can't wait.

I'm glad to hear you are still excited despite the lack of updates! We really should write a new post... :?

Anyways, I can report that things have been moving along at a great pace and the game already feels like a worthy sequel. There's still some work to do, especially regarding balancing the levels/items/monsters and of course polishing everything but at this point, pretty much all the features we intend the game to have are there.

Recently me and Petri have been systematically going through all the levels of the game where each day we pick one area (that might actually cover something like 1-4 levels) that we focus on and do everything we can to improve that one place. It might be level design (layout, puzzles, combat, item placement, secrets), game design (underwater gameplay mechanics, herbs and potions), or visuals (lighting & atmosphere, particles, items & environment objects), audio (ambient & environment sounds, monster sounds) or even interface (automap improvements and such). One day for each area is not a lot of time but doing a pass like this over the whole game really improves the overall experience since this way we always tackle the weakest spots of the game without getting stuck into a details for too long. 8-)

Thank you. I'm not sure what is more exciting: the screenshot, that you're in alpha or that there will be underwater areas! Flooded, underwater or generally wet areas is something that was well hinted in the previous update that revealed Zarchtons. I love that direction.

Awesome news, indeed. Thanks again for sharing this.
