Will there be a dungeon editer this tme around?

Post by axe11154 »

I remember dungeon editor. It was a great add that aloud me to make dungeons not even my friends could beat unless in the league of their own.
Id love it if we could once again do this but the problem is the new look of the game doesn't seem it would allow it.
would it be just classic grimrock editor or would it be new and improved to handle the new game?

They are planning to have an editor again, a whole new version to use all the new features of the game.

And the best part, this editor has been planned since the game started development, so we can expect it to be a lot more wholesome in quality and ability.

that will be a great big part of the fun of LOG2 no doubt

there are plenty of turn based games around e.g. XCOM ENEMY UNKNOWN that just do not have Level Editors, so we are very lucky to have it

for me it is 50% of the game :D

I hope they make alcoves and altars easier to use as triggers and such by specific items. Some people just can't figure out scripting to save their lives (me included sort of). and there is only so much you can do with timers, counter and teleporters. Plus the eye sockets can only be used so many times in a dungeon and everyone sort of already knows about that little puzzle.

It's hard to know exactly what changes we will see in the LOG2 dungeon editor, but I do know it will be exciting to see how it's evolved. For the first game, the Dungeon Editor was added after release and the original dungeon was made without it. I'm assuming that the second game will be built using the updated Dungeon Editor, so there will be no more problems with the odd hardcoded feature and as / when the LOG2 dev team decide they need something new - they will add it to the editor, which will filter down to us.

Fully agree with Hallunoid too - I played through the original dungeon in however many hours (10? 15?), but have clocked up 400 Hours in LOG in total. Even if I played through the game twice, that still means that 370Hrs can be attributed to mods and the dungeon editor (granted, probably 50-100 were leaving the editor open, but still).

Will the editor be available upon game launch or will we have to wait for an update as with LoG1?

Awesome. Can't wait.

Speaking of which, any idea when the game will be released roughly? 8-)
