I see several problems with controls there though...but not entirely unlikely
I'm going to bet for an html5 version, with all the graphical content being cached offline ofcourse.

Only if by "refreshed" you actually mean completely redone. With maybe some of the aesthetics hearkening back to the original.

Well I wouldn't hope for BG3, the songs on website are linked to website of Trent Oster from Overhaul Games (subsidiary of Beamdog), which made MDK2 HD release. I think this would be similiar case.
