Oh, Steam says now that the game will be released in about 12 hours, which would be around 7-8pm CEST, 6-7pm GMT. So... The game will be released an hour earlier on GOG? Hmm, good thing I'm not home this evening (and yes, that was some pretty bad planning...), or I just might've bought it on GOG in addition to here, just to get it earlier.

5pm UTC = 6pm uk time, 7 pm european time, 1pm eastern american time etc etc. GOG is not getting the game any earlier than steam is

They have to have a set time for release, or people will complain that 'X got the game before me', and since steam has a set time that games release every day, it sort of makes sense to stick to that for everyone.

I don't see any logical reasons to hate Steam, I see only trivialities and hate issues. Instead, you should rather cherish it, as Steam is currently the sole reason PC gaming is still alive and kicking!

Well, it's a mixed blessing for me. I was going by that other countdown clock, and had planned around 13.00 for it. BUT, now I have to wait until 19.00, which means I can actually do some work. The same work, in fact, that I was planning to totally blow-off in order to hit Grimrock a.s.a.p.
