It's faulty in almost every conceivable way, but here goes, in case it's any use..

at 1566x2743 it's still not nearly as high-res as you'd probably need, but, oh well, it's based on the highest-res image I could find on the net.

Well it has flaws, but I like that yours has the st. john ambulance symbol unlike the original posters example image.

I've never seen the show myself, but what I've figured is that it's about a time-travelling doc who regenerates each season, making it convenient to switch actors, who uses that tardis thing that looks like a phone booth but is bigger on the inside, scarves seem to be a thing, as is a "sonic screwdriver", and salt shakers are scary and say 'exterminate'. Oh, and the theme song uses a theremin, which is pretty neat.

Just sharing that, because, you know, the ones who have actually seen the show might find it amusing.

Mmm, I like the scarves. They used to wear great scarves, I would really like to see good scarf wearing return.
(No I am not deranged. If this talk is about doctor who. Then scarves are important to me.)

You won't find anything even close to the needed quality on the web. Even for a rather low res web-quality print out (72 dpi) such an image needs to have a resolution of about 56,7k x 113,4k, sized aprox 24 Gigabytes (uncompressed 32 bit color bitmap).

You might have some luck finding a high quality print of it in a magazine or photo book from the library, and then scan it very high res scan, and blow it up and print it out - that's probably better than anything online anyway

Oh, gratitude!

20cm tall image (which you might find in a book) scaled up to 4 meters means 20x zoom, which would require 1500-3000 DPI fulltone picture, which I'd find *rather* unlikely. Magazines are almost, if not always, halftone and wouldn't be useful.

So, to the grateful OP, I'd say you have three options:
a) build a blue door yourself with the signs
b) find one somewhere (I believe the one I 'shopped was photographed in a movie theatre somewhere) and take a high-res photo of it - you DO have a camera capable of a couple gigapixels?
c) Use a vectorized version of the image and live with it - that'll scale to any resolution.

I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for design work. Currently I'm working on a billboard of 6 x 4 metres which is made on a 1:10 scale in 300 dpi CMYK. My largest image is 40 x 40 cm and all images are linked not embedded. There are some sites where you can find out the used font types and once you have the fonts you can make the text signs. After outlining them you can stylize them to suit your needs. With a wooden background and a blue multiply overlay in 33% or so opacity you can create your wooden panels. Now you have to look at it as a puzzle. In a different illustrator file I link all the pieces and some of the tiles are used multiple times.

Now you want it in a higher dpi, but first ask a professional print shop with an A0+ color printer which file format and size they can handle. You could first print a lower resolution whole and then carefully paste the higher resolution tiles on top. For exact measurements you need to know which Old British Police Box model you seek. Sometimes you'll find a huge poster or blueprint in a shop like Forbidden Planet. On the 23rd of November there will be a special 50 year Anniversary on BBC TV. If you can't watch it the 1080p/720p mkv video files will put into the newsgroups a few days later.

Btw I've seen all the episodes since 2005... a nice fact is that doctor 10 is married to the daughter of doctor 5
