Possible bug on level 3 (spoilers)

I can't get secret #3 in dungeon 3, as described here: http://www.gamebanshee.com/legendofgrim ... level3.php

I disabled the two portals by activating the floor switch to the west, then the wall switch to the east. Then I dropped a rock onto each of the two floor switches that are behind the grates, but the gate didn't open.

I thought maybe the order mattered, so I loaded an old save and tried again but with the same result.

Any ideas why?

All three pressure plates must be held down to open the gate.

Thanks. I guess I misunderstood and thought the western plate just had to be pressed once to disable the portal.
