Will the next chapter in Legend of Grimrock be a Expansion

I was going through the home page of Grimrock and I saw the tesser. I must say I like the idea of a new race and whole diffrent weapons and I can't wait until it comes out. But my wondering is. Will it be an expansion of the original game or will it be a standalone? And will you be able to play your former characters???

There was a 'leak' where an asset path started with 'dlc1'. So it's safe to assume that it will be a dlc and not Grimrock 2.

No idea about playing your former characters, but I'm pretty sure you will have to start with a new party as it would be a) hard to balance and b) only people who finished the original game and still have an end game save would be able to play the dlc properly.

It's conceivable that you could "import" a party but they would be reset level 1 or something

It is also entirely possible that it will use the same approach as with mods. Most mods expect lv 1 party, but you are welcome to ruin your experience and start with kick ass level 14 killing machines.

But be serious here, guys. There's completely new race - ratmen - and you don't want to try it?

What I am wondering is:
Will our mods be compatible with this new version of grimrock or expansion.
Will it be easy to change custom made dungeons or do we have to start over again from scratch?
Will the engine be the same etc etc

I know I am way to early to be asking these questions... but still curious !
