Hmm... spell continues until mana is chanelled entirely or the caster moves, breaking concentration. That should work, I think.
I was just about to wrap the final version of exsp 1.4 for release, I might as well add this spell to the spell library before. Can you help me name it and tell me what runes it would be, what skill level, etc. I imagine from Air Magic school, like an electricity beam?

yep something like that should be cool , a beam , whatever magic school do what you want depend of combination you still have after all your custom spell , a beam or something like telekinesis to move objet but i thing much hard to do cause of placement of moved objet hard to define , but a beam sould be cool , something whitch dmg ingrease depend on focusing ( longer focus = high damage )

or a force spell , air magic school , middle game , chaneling made monster knock back , maybee more usefull when part is blocked because of monster

It should stop? I think that Komag has a good point, drinking an energy potion should allow you to continue... I'm not sure how to prevent it anyhow.

sure it will !! how do you want keep a focusing mind if you drink a potion???

You're right. Anyway, I thought of a way to control the beam, so if the caster uses any object, tries to attack or the party moves, the beam will stop. Also, is "Energy Ray" a good name?

The spell is almost ready, you can test the current state in the EXSP Lab:

The energy ray scroll is in Test Room 04.
It's almost ready, I just want to add a particle effect when the beam strikes a wall.
PS: I'll make a separate thread for the Lab soon with more info, but you can go play in other rooms too if you wish.
